White Plains Public Safety Honors Chaplain

Rev. Lester Cousin was honored for his 26 years of service as chaplain to the White Plains Department of Public Safety

In a ceremony Tuesday, surrounded by members of his public safety family, Rev. Lester Cousin was honored for his 26 years as chaplain for the . 

The ceremony of appreciation was planned shortly after Cousin’s decision to retire as Pastor of , where he has served the community for almost four decades.

While presenting Cousin with his retired chaplain’s shield and certificate of appreciation, Public Safety Commissioner David Chong and Mayor Thomas Roach both reflected on Cousin’s years of service to the Department and to the White Plains community as a whole.

“Reverend Cousin is one of a kind and we can never replace him," said White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach. “Thank you so much for all you’ve done.”

Cousin said he will miss the people of White Plains and his public safety “family”. He plans to move to his home in Nashville sometime in November.

"White Plains has become a metropolis," said Cousin. "We have a lot of big buildings now. But really, we're still that small, diverse community of people working together to get things done that we were when I first got here. It's that community that I'll miss."
