White Plains Voters To Approve $244.8M Budget For 2022-23
A public hearing and presentation on the proposed budget will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Voters in the White Plains City School District are being asked to approve a $244.8 million budget for the 2022-23 school year.
The vote will take place from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 17.
The spending package is up 6.65 percent from the current budget, or $15.2 million more.

A public hearing and presentation on the proposed budget will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Education House, 5 Homeside Lane.
Superintendent Joseph Ricca said the district is receiving an additional $14.1 million in state aid, starting with $3.3 million in 2021-22, $5.4 million to be received in 2022-23 and $5.4 million in 2023-24.

As a result, he said, the district will not be increasing tax levy increase. It will remain at the 2021-22 levy amount of $197,235,072.
Besides the budget there will be three propositions for the voters to consider:
- Bond resolution authorizing spending up to $114 million from the district's Capital Reserve Fund 2019 and issuing up to $60 million in bonds for renovations and improvements to district buildings.
- Authorization to spend $12.65 million from the Capital Reserve Fund 2019 for ventilation, filtration and air conditioning improvements to district buildings.
- Establishing a Capital Reserve Fund 2022 to a maximum of $50 million over 15 years.
Two seats on the Board of Education will be filled, each for a three-year term of office, beginning July 1. The candidates are incumbents Sheryl Brady and Charlie Norris.
