White Plans High School Student to be Honored at 'In The Company of Women' Luncheon

Ciera Scriber will be recognized at the annual luncheon this Friday, May 10.

Ciera Scriber, a junior at White Plains High School, has been invited to the YWCA's fifth annual "In The Company of Women" luncheon on Friday when she will be honored for her accomplishments along with three other young women. 

The young woman been on the honor roll every semester since middle school. She is an active member of the YWCA's "Girls Empowered Through Meaningful Support" (GEMS) program and has represented the GEMS program as a speaker for the YWCA’s Stand Against Racism.

In addition, she has served as a volunteer with the Bruke Rehabilitation Center, Mount Hope AME Zion Church, White Plains High School and Zeta Phi Beta Youth Auxiliary Group of Westchester.

Ciera will be recognized at the annual luncheon, which will be held on Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook.

The YWCA's "In The Company of Women" luncheon is expected to attract nearly 600 people. Sheryl WuDunn, the first Asian-American to win a Pulitzer Prize, business executive, entrepreneur and best selling-author will be the keynote speaker at the event.

The non-profit organization's mission, according to a statement, is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
