Prime Williamsburg Studios Starting at $596 per Month Just Went Up for Grabs
The lottery for affordable units in the Domino Sugar Factory development began Monday — so get your app in quick.
WILLIAMSBURG, NY — Monday marked the first day to apply for an affordable apartment within the massive new Domino Sugar Factory development along the Williamsburg waterfront, with prices starting at the lowest of the lows: just $596 per month.
The modern complex is filled with 2,000 apartments — 700 of which are reserved for low-income applicants. The first 104 of the affordable units went up for grabs Monday.
If you make between $21,772 and $25,400 a year, you are eligible to apply for one of six $596-per-month studios in the complex. If you make between $27,189 and $38,100 per year, you are eligible to apply for a studio for $754 per month, of which there are 34.

The Domino Sugar Factory development is located between the Bedford Avenue L stop and the Marcy Avenue J/M/Z stop, putting it at the center of Williamsburg's prime commuter zone. (That is, until the L shuts down in 2019. But you could have other transportation options by then.)

For half of its affordable apartments, preference will be given to applicants who live within Brooklyn's Community Board 1.
Here's where you can get started on an application online. You can also order a mail-in application by sending a self-addressed envelope to 325 Kent Apts., 243 5th Ave., Box 425, New York, NY, 10016.
