Accidental Shooting At Brooklyn Birthday Party Injures Woman
The shooting happened at an event space on Coney Island Avenue, on the border of Kensington and Ditmas Park.

BROOKLYN, NY — A woman was shot in the leg at a birthday party on Coney Island Avenue on Sunday night, police said, when a man dropped his gun and it went off.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. inside of the DOLAJ Catering Hall on Coney Island Avenue near Lewis Place, according to police, on the Kensington-Ditmas Park border.
The 62-year-old woman was there attending her one-year-old grandson's birthday party, police said. She heard a "pop" and felt a pain in her left calf, according to police.

After a preliminary investigation, police determined that a man accidentally dropped the gun and caused it to fire and hit the woman, police said.
"We were passing through there and there was a lot of blood on the floor," a witness told NBC New York. "She was crying a lot."

No one has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing, police said. The gunman picked up the weapon and fled the scene, according to NBC New York.
