Borough Park Fire: 14 Injured In Huge Monday Morning Blaze

Four firefighters sustained injuries fighting the fire, and one civilian was critically injured.

BOROUGH PARK, BROOKLYN — A large fire tore through a Borough Park apartment building early Monday morning, injuring 14 people, including four firefighters, the FDNY said.

It started around 4:20 a.m. on the second floor of a four-story building on 49th Street between 12th and 13th avenues, according to the FDNY.

The fire eventually extended to the building's third and fourth floors, officials said. Pictures from the scene showed bright orange flames lighting up dark morning sky.

The fire was deemed under control at 5:39 a.m. after 138 firefighters responded to the scene.

The 10 injured civilians were taken from the scene by Hatzolah, the FDNY said. One was in critical condition and the rest stable.

The four injured firefighters were taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition, according to the FDNY.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
