Choose Which Windsor Terrace and Kensington Projects Will Get City Funding

The city's participatory budgeting process allows residents to vote on their favorite neighborhood improvement projects.

BROOKLYN, NY — Participatory budgeting is a fancy term for something relatively simple: If your New York City Council district participates in the process, you get to vote on which neighborhood improvement projects you deem worthy of your taxpayer dollars.

The city has put together this list of participating City Council districts.

Projects eligible for funding vary depend on the district you live in; all district-specific projects are arranged geographically on this website.

While voting week runs from March 26 through April 3, polling dates, times and locations depend on your district.

You do not have to be a registered voter to participate. Anyone age 14 and up can vote. You should bring an ID, a utility bill or some other form of documentation that states your address with you to the polls.

One additional note: All residents can vote for their favorite projects at Borough Hall, located at 209 Joralemon Street, from March 28 - April 1. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m on those days.

DISTRICT 39: BRAD LANDER (includes Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Kensington, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus and part of Borough Park)

If you live in Windsor Terrace or Kensington, you may be represented in the City Council by Brad Lander, who heads District 39. Below, you'll find a list of voting times, dates and locations for that district. You should contact Mr. Lander's office with additional questions.

On March 29th, an expo will take place at the Park Slope Library, where eligible projects will be presented.

Residents of the 39th district can vote for up to five projects totaling $1.5 million in spending.
