Parking Spot in Park Slope Goes for $80K

The sale marks Garage Condominium's highest of the year.

A realty company in Park Slope recently sold a parking spot for $80,000, DNAinfo reported Monday.

Berman Realty’s Garage Condominium, located on Union Street, is seeing price hikes after word got out that a 300-spot parking garage across the street is being renovated into an apartment building.

"People come to inquire [from across the street] but we have no room," Garage Condominium owner Howard Pronsky said. "We have great demand and no supply, so the prices are going up."

One parking spot sold for $50,000 in April and another for $62,500 in June. The latest sale, $80,000, marks the highest of 2013.

The buyer, who works in finance did not give DNAinfo comment.

Pronsky said the $80,000 price is high, but not as high as pre-recession prices.

Garage Condominium was created about 25 years ago to offer permanent parking spots in Park Slope. Owners pay a lump sum, maintenance fees and yearly real estate taxes.
