The Early Word: Spring Has Sprung

News about "Get Up and Move," Golden Farm and more.

Yesterday was the the first day of spring, though if we didn't know any better, we'd say it actually began sometime last week when the mercury shot up a solid 15 degrees from seemingly hours prior.

No matter. Whether spring arrived this week or last, there are still five things you should know today:

1. Community Board 7 will meet tonight for its monthly meeting at 4201 4th Avenue at 6:30 p.m. The public, as always, is encouraged to attend.

2. As part of its push for increased fitness in school, tonight's PTA meeting will also double as "Get Up and Move" night, in which organizations from around the community will be on hand to teach students and their families about the many ways to work out. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. in the P.S. 130 cafeteria.

3. Share your latest creative writing endeavor with other local wordsmiths. meets today at 12 p.m. at the Brooklyn Public Library.
