Bomb Threat Leads To Lockdown At Hough High in Cornelius: CPD

Police are now searching for the person who called in the bogus bomb threat at William Amos Hough High Friday afternoon.

CORNELIUS, NC — An investigation is underway after someone made a bomb threat at William Amos Hough High Friday afternoon, prompting the evacuation of students and staff from the Cornelius school.

Cornelius Police Department responded to what they said was an "active police situation" at the school, and urged drivers in the area to avoid Bailey Road.

Shortly before 5 p.m., CPD confirmed the incident had been due to a bomb threat.

"Today, an individual called Hough High School and stated there was a bomb located somewhere at the school," CPD said. "Students and staff were evacuated. A search of the inside and outside of the school was completed. No suspicious items were found."

CPD said anyone with information about who may have called in the threat is asked to contact the police department at 704-892-7773.
