Arrest Made After Mooresville Driver Fatally Shot In I-77: CPD
One day after launching a search for the driver of a white Econoline passenger van, CPD said it made an arrest in the fatal I-77 shooting.
CORNELIUS, NC — Cornelius police have identified and arrested a man they say is the gunman responsible for the death of a 34-year-old Mooresville man who was found shot to death inside a vehicle along Interstate 77 early Thursday morning.
Rymyr Davaughn Quarles, 22, of Mooresville was arrested Friday, Aug. 13, and charged with the murder of Brandon David Hedrick, Cornelius Police Department said.
The arrest comes after CPD made a public plea for help identifying a suspect vehicle in the homicide case.

"The vehicle is possibly a white Ford Econoline passenger van," CPD said. "Cornelius Police are also seeking information from anyone that may have been traveling I-77 southbound around 6:10am."

According to WJZY, Hedrick was found dead inside a vehicle near mile marker 26, north of Sam Furr Road around 6:30 a.m.
A North Carolina state trooper pulled over to assist what they thought was a stranded motorist in the toll lane, however found the driver unresponsive, WSOC reported. The person was later pronounced dead by MEDIC, according to the station.
