National Night Out 2020: Parade Of Lights Planned In Cornelius

Cornelius Police Department is hosting a parade of lights to celebrate this year.

CORNELIUS, NC β€” The Cornelius Police Department and Cornelius PARC Department will once again host National Night Out this year, however the annual community event will look a little different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to organizers.

National Night Out β€” a nationwide event geared to connect communities with local law enforcement β€” will be celebrated with a parade of lights in Cornelius on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Say organizers:
"National Night Out is normally held on the first Tuesday in August where residents are offered an opportunity to meet Local Public Safety Officers and stand together to promote safety, awareness and neighborhood unity. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to postpone our National Night Out celebration to the later date of October 6, 2020 like thousands of other communities. This year we will be celebrating National Night Out in a different way by bringing a Parade of Lights to the neighborhoods in our community!"
