CORNELIUS, NC — For the third time this month, snow is in the forecast for the Charlotte and Lake Norman regions according to the National Weather Service.

The chances for snow showers start to stir up Friday evening. Expect Friday to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 48 and a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 5 p.m., with new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible per the NWS.

As night falls, those chances rise. Rain is likely before 11 p.m. but likely mixes with snow between 11 p.m. and midnight, with a full switch to snow possible after midnight. Temperatures plummet to 26 degrees and the wind returns with gusts around 25 mph possible.

In the Charlotte area, temperatures are expected to rise above freezing to roughly 37 degrees on Saturday, but will plummet to a bitter cold overnight with a low of 18-19 degrees.
