Swimming Advisory Lifted At Lake Cornelius: Report
Swimmers and boaters can return to a cove of Lake Cornelius after bacteria levels returned to normal, say officials.

CORNELIUS, NC — Officials with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services lifted an advisory Thursday on swimming and boating on Lake Cornelius, an arm of Lake Norman, according to a media report. The officials determined that bacteria levels in a cove of Lake Cornelius, between Davidson Street in Cornelius and Catawba Avenue in Davidson, have returned to safe limits, the Charlotte Observer reported.
The stormwater agency warned swimmers against entering the water last week after routine water sampling found elevated levels of bacteria in the cove.
A spokesperson for Storm Water Services told Patch earlier this week that bacteria levels in the cove ranged from 200 to 1,000 colones per 100 ml. A level of 200 colones per 100 ml is considered safe.

Local water quality experts said that geese poop likely contributed to the increase in bacteria in the cove, the Observer reported.
