Vigil Planned At Cornelius Never Forget 9/11 Monument: Details

An early morning vigil is planned at the Cornelius Never Forget 9/11 Monument on Saturday, Sept. 11.

CORNELIUS, NC — This year, the nation will come together at ceremonies in Cornelius and other U.S. communities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

In Cornelius, an event is planned on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Cornelius Never Forget 9/11 Monument at 8:30 a.m. The monument is located at Fire Station No. 1, 19729 S. Main Street in Cornelius.

Says Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue:
"The events of September 11, 2001 are forever etched in our minds and hearts. The Cornelius Never Forget 9/11 Monument, which includes a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, is our way to honor the first responders, citizens, and military personnel who were affected and to educate future generations about the events surrounding this day in our nation's history."
