Water Project To Prompt Overnight Street Closure In Cornelius

CORNELIUS, NC — Drivers headed through downtown Cornelius next week should prepare for a short-term detour around Catawba Avenue, according to the Town of Cornelius.

Crews from Charlotte Water are set to install new water and sewer taps for the Cain Center for the Arts. On Wednesday, Sept. 1, Catawba Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. with a detour set up on Newcenter Dr., between Milling Way and Jane Crump Way.

Work will continue during the day on Thursday, Sept. 2, and Friday, Sept. 3, however no road closures are planned, the town said.
