Take an umbrella if you're going out, just in case a spotty shower finds you.

DAVIDSON, NC — Davidson's New Year's Eve forecast is predicted to be close to record-breaking... temperature wise.

According to Accuweather, the temperature is expected to hit 70 degrees and tie a record for high temperature during the day. It will be cloudy all day long, like it's been most of this week.

Come nightfall when many people may be going out to watch the Charlotte fireworks or celebrate locally at a venue still hosting a New Year's Eve party, things will stay cloudy and then bring in a chance for rain.

Accuweather predicts a chance for spotty showers in the evening hours.

Weather Channel predicts a 24 to 35 percent chance of rain right around midnight in the Charlotte region. Rain chances increase overnight, so if you're planning to be out until morning hours, definitely bring an umbrella.

Temperatures overnight will be in the low 60s, if you want to take a light jacket with you if you'll spend time outside.

If you're staying in, low 60s is totally an excuse to drink the last of the Christmas hot chocolate. I give my permission.

Keep an eye on the weather for the rest of the weekend because there's a chance of severe weather on New Year's Day.

WCNC predicts there will be storms in the area as the day heats up on Saturday and some could potentially be strong.
