Davidson Set To Approve Non-Discrimination Ordinance

The town has researched the ordinance and given local feedback, is set to move forward.

DAVIDSON, NC β€” Davidson is expected to move forward with approving an ordinance that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, natural hairstyle and other identifiers that could lead to unfair treatment.

"Based on the board’s feedback, local businesses, the Housing and Equity advisory board, and the community at-large the Housing and Equity board with make a recommendation to the board of commissioners to approve the final draft of the ordinance prohibiting discrimination in public accommodations," the meeting agenda states.

The resolution would go into effect April 12, 2022 if approved.

The meeting is broadcast on Zoom and YouTube at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

Mecklenburg County approved a similar ordinance last week.
