Downed Power Lines Bring Interstate 77 To A Standstill
Interstate 77 is closed in both directions due to downed power lines and repairs are expected to take hours.

DAVIDSON, NC — Interstate 77 closed in both directions Sunday evening after a wave of storms brought down power lines at the Griffith Street exit 30 in Davidson, according to transportation officials. Repairs are expected to take hours, they said.
The power line damage was a result of strong storms that pushed through Georgia and the Carolinas Sunday afternoon. A tornado watch was in effect in the Charlotte-metro area April 15 until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
“A strong cold front will push through the area this afternoon, with strong storms expected to develop along and ahead of the front,” NWS said in a hazardous outlook bulletin April 15. “Torrential downpours are expected, and flash flooding will be possible across portions of the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia.”
