Here Are The Latest Chances For Snow In The Lake Norman Area

Winter weather is approaching quickly, here's what to expect.

DAVIDSON, NC — The forecast calls for snow, sleet and frozen rain so make sure you're prepared, if you haven't already. Here are some handy tips if you're new to the wild winter weather in the Carolinas!

For those who are monitoring the local forecasts, the picture of expected winter weather is getting much clearer as it inches closer.

First of all, expect temperatures to fall. Overnight Saturday into Sunday, expect lows between 27 and 30 degrees, and Monday's low is a whopping 19 degrees.

And for what everyone wants to know, the chances for the white stuff are high.

Chief Meteorologist at WCNC, Brad Panovich, forecasts at least a couple of inches for the Charlotte Region, with more expected north of the Queen City and much more in the mountains.

Panovich expects the storm to hit Sunday at roughly 2 a.m. and continue through Sunday morning. Based on weather models, the predicted amount of snow in Charlotte is 1 to 2 inches, with up to an inch of sleet and half an inch of ice also.

Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville could see 2-4 inches of snow and sleet overall.

Beech Mountain and Grandfather mountain could see more than a foot of snow and ice.

Expect wind gusts up to 25 mph, which can certainly make things feel a lot more uncomfortable if you're outside. Local and state agencies are begging people to stay off the roads Sunday as they try to clean up.
