Asbestos concerns resurface in Davidson as NCDOT begins new road project (wunc.org) — Asbestos-contaminated soil has been found along the route of a new west-side road connector in Davidson, prompting a month-long cleanup before construction continues. NCDOT contractors will keep the site wet, fence it off, and halt work if dust can’t be controlled, ahead of building a new connector, sidewalks, and a Griffith Street roundabout expected to be finished by early 2027.

(nbcnews.com) — A Davidson family successfully used an Affordable Care Act appeals process to overturn their insurer’s denial of an $800,000-a-year seizure medication for their 13-year-old son. Since gaining access, his seizures have dropped dramatically and he’s regaining lost skills, even joining his school’s flag football team, offering a powerful example of how federal protections can directly affect local families.
   

3. Davidson men's basketball surges to 6-1 start (nsjonline.com) — Davidson fans have plenty to cheer about as the Wildcats men’s basketball team is off to a 6-1 start, including a perfect home record at Belk Arena in town. With breakout performances from junior guard Hunter Adam and transfer captain Josh Scovens, the team’s balanced scoring and improved defense have them eyeing another Atlantic 10 title run.

Here's why (charlotteobserver.com) — North Carolina companies scored well on Forbes’ new list of America’s Best Companies, and Trane’s Davidson facility made the cut at No. 390. While Charlotte giants like Bank of America and Lowe’s rank higher, this recognition still highlights a major local employer that helps anchor jobs and economic activity in and around Davidson.
