
DAVIDSON, NC — The North Carolina area is enduring a drought, but there is much-needed rain on the horizon.
For Davidson, there's a 26 percent chance of thunderstorms and a 65 percent chance of rain Saturday, according to AccuWeather. The greatest chances of rain are in the afternoon, but there is a chance all day long.
Expect lows to be in the low to mid 40s and then climb to 70 degrees. Even with that rain, it is not enough to get us out of the drought.

According to The United States Drought Monitor, much of North Carolina is in a moderate to severe level of drought. According to the weather team at WCNC, the area needs more than 15 inches of rain over the next couple months to make the drought subside.
There is still a burn ban across 33 counties in North Carolina, but it was rescinded for 67 counties including Mecklenburg County and Iredell County. Caution is still urged when it comes to burning.

A recent fire at Pilot Mountain burned more than 1,000 acres and was determined to be caused by a person letting a campfire get out of control.
