82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper Found Unresponsive in Barracks
The soldier, pronounced dead on post, was assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - An 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper was found
unresponsive in his barracks room and pronounced dead here on Sunday. Β The
cause of death is currently under investigation.
Spc. John Schule, 20, of Carpentersville, Ill., was an ammunition
specialist with the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team.
Schule joined the Army in July 2010. Β He attended Basic Combat
Training at Fort Benning, Ga. and Advanced Individual Training at Redstone
Arsenal, Ala. followed by Airborne School at Fort Benning before reporting to
the 782nd BSB, 4th BCT in February 2011. Schule served one combat tour in
Afghanistan, returning from his deployment in September 2012.
"Specialist John M. Schule was a dedicated Paratrooper in the 782nd
Brigade Support Battalion, the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment and the 82nd
Airborne Division. He was a highly respected ammunition specialist, a superb
young Paratrooper and a professional by all measures. This unexpected death
has shaken our unit beyond words," said Lt. Col Geoffrey Kent, commander,
782nd BSB.
"We are doing our best to console the Troopers that knew John best. Our
deepest sympathy goes out to the Schule family during this challenging time of
loss and we are prepared to support them in any way possible during their
bereavement," added Kent.
Schule's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal,
the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with
campaign star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service
Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and the Parachutist Badge.
