Attempted Hotel Robbery Foiled by Would-Be Victim

The Quality Inn Hotel off Interstate 95 was the location where the crime began

Sunday evening around 7p.m. a 37-year-old Fayetteville man was in his hotel room and left his room ajar after his cousin came in to borrow money.

Immediately following, two men entered the room impersonating police officers with arrest warrants before pulling a knife. According to the police report, the would-be victim apprehended the knife and stabbed both the perpetrators before they fled.

A short time later, emergency dispatchers received reports about a stabbing in a Cedar Creek road, near 95, where two men were taken to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center according to Fayetteville police spokesman, Lt. Chris Davis.

Both men provided conflicting stories to the investigators of their whereabouts when the stabbings occurred.

One of the men was transported to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, in serious condition.

Both men will be charged upon their release from the hospital and warrants have been issued for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon.
