Car Thieves Sought by Authorities

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives are searching for two suspects who stole a 2005 Ford Expedition from the driveway of the rightful owner.

On Sunday, January 13, 2013, a man in the 7200 block of Cayman Drive, Fayetteville awoke to an empty driveway, as his SUV was not where he’d parked it before going to bed the night before, according to the sheriff's report. The SUV's owner called the Sheriff’s Office to report the vehicle stolen.

Hours later, the suspects were seen driving the vehicle along Cumberland Road and Ireland Drive where they purchased gas at a convenience store.  Surveillance video shows the suspects pulling the SUV up to the pumps at around 5:36 a.m. at the Kangaroo.  Both went inside the store and made additional purchases.

The vehicle, which is blue, has been seen around town in shopping centers, restaurants and other public places.
