CrossFit 910 Honors "Murph" with the Traditional Hero WOD

Memorial Day means it's time to honor Lt. Michael Murphy, the first Medal of Honor recipient from Afghanistan.

Local Fayetteville CrossFit gym, CrossFit 910 members mustered up their strength to give their best for one who gave the ultimate sacrifice, Lt. Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Afghanistan.

Murphy was leading a patrol back in June 2005 when he killed somewhere in the mountains. His unit came under intense Taliban fire and found shelter behind some rocks.

Murphy exposed himself to enemy fire so he could find a better position to send a distress signal. He was killed, and in 2007 he became the first American in Afghanistan to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

CrossFit 910 on Wilmington Highway gathered and took their annual photo following the Murph Hero WOD.
