Fayetteville's 'Field of Honor' Kicks Off Next Week, How to Get a Flag

Purchase your flag to honor a solider past or present to display on the field at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum.

For the 7th year, the Field of Honor will fly May 11- June 29 at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum parade ground, located in downtown Fayetteville, NC.

The Field of Honor is a living display of heroism that flies annually as a patriotic tribute to the strength and unity of Americans, and honors all who are currently serving, those who have served, and the men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation’s security and freedom. 

The Downtown Alliance and the Airborne and Special Operations Museum will again host the event. Proceeds benefit the Airborne and Special Operations Museum Foundation.

One thousand 3’x5' flags will stand 8’ tall in perfect rows and columns and will allow event visitors to walk among the flags and pay tribute to our heroes. Each flag will display a tag identifying the flag honoree. 

NEW: Hometown hero Major General Edward M. Reeder, Jr. Commanding General of the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School & Army Special Operations Center of Excellence, will serve as keynote speaker for the opening dedication on Saturday,May 11 at 11:00am.

NEW: The Research Triangle Corvette Club will cruise down Hay St. at 10:30 am on opening day to honor Corvettes for Vets. Dozens of corvettes will be parked at ASOM and available for viewing.

Boy Scouts Troops, VFW and Rolling Thunder Vietnam veterans will serve as volunteers for the Field of Honor. Douglas Byrd JROTC, under the command of Colonel Memminger, Rolling Thunder NC Chapter One, and singer Ms. Taylor Morgan will also take part in the opening dedication ceremony.
