UPDATE: Cause of Death Confirmed in Spring Lake Homicide

Officials are asking for the public's assistance with information

An autopsy performed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that a Spring Lake man, found dead in his home over the weekend, was murdered.

68-year old James Williams of 403 Rutherford Street died of blunt force trauma to the upper body.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives canvassed the Spring Lake area today searching for information about a murder that happened in the community over the weekend.Β

The body of 68-year old James Williams, also known as β€œEsaw,” was found inside his home at 403 Rutherford Street on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at around 5:00 p.m. according to Debbie Tanna, Public Information Officer.

Investigators were called to the home following an anonymous 911 call.Β

The victim’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.Β
