January Happenings

Mark your calendars for these upcoming events

Veterans Writing Workshop at Methodist University is being held on Jan. 12, the initial meet up, and plans to continue monthly. The group will be free and is open to active-duty troops, veterans and military family members. "Our goal is to honor veterans and encourage them to tap into their creativity as they offer unique glimpses into their experiences," Robin Greene, an English teacher at Methodist said. "Even family members have the opportunity to write creatively about their experiences. Frequently, in the cry for service stories, we neglect their stories."Β

Book Signing at ASOM: Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. John Borling will sign copies of his book, "Taps on the Wall: Poems from the Hanoi Hilton," on Jan. 6 at 1 to 3 p.m., at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, downtown Fayetteville. Copies of the book can be purchased in the museum's gift shop. For more information, call 643-2766 or go to asomf.org.
