Lt. Gen. Keen, Former Special Operations, 82nd Leader to Retire

The ceremony will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, at Fort Bragg

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Lieutenant Gen. P. K. Keen, the commander of Joint Task Force that responded to the earthquake that devastated Haiti in January 2010, will officially retire during a 4 p.m., ceremony here Jan. 25. While in Haiti, Keen led elements of Fort Bragg’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division and Special Operations Forces who deployed to render immediate assistance to the Haitian people.

Keen most recently served as the chief of the Office of the Defense Representative-Pakistan, and before that, was the deputy commander of U.S. Southern Command from Sept. 2009 to June 2011.

His service at the home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces includes command of Company C, 1st Battalion, 325th Infantry (Airborne) from May 1982 to Sept. 1984, and 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment July 1993 to March 1995.

Keen commanded the 75th Ranger Regiment from July 1999 to July 2001.

Keen is a Green Beret, having served in Panama with the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) from November 1977 to June 1980.
