Mother Charged with False Report in Alleged Child Abduction
Latasha Michelle Bethea was arrested and released on bond after an investigation into a report she made about her daughter, Leniyah Parker.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a local mother and accused her of making a false claim that her daughter had been abducted from school.
According to the public information officer, Latasha Michelle Bethea, 28, of 6540 Brookstone Lane, was taken into custody late Thursday. Detectives spent hours searching for Bethea’s 8-year-old daughter, after it was reported that the girl had been taken from Lucille Souders Elementary School, by a white female driving a white Buick or Cadillac. The child was later found safe and sound at her grandmother’s home.Â
Bethea has been charged with making an unfounded report to law enforcement officers and resist, delay and obstruction of justice. She was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $500 bond. Â
