New Hours: 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum

FORT BRAGG, NC — The 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum will be open its normal hours Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The museum serves to honor the Soldiers and Paratroopers that have served the division’s proud 95-year history.

The museum tells the story of the 82nd Division in World War I and continues through its transformation into an airborne division in World War II.  The Museum cover the numerous post-World War II operations and to the present operations in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

The memorial park located outside the museum building is the Division’s Memorial that honors these soldiers.  Additional memorials honor the Paratroopers of the Dominican Republic and Vietnam.  Inside the museum, there is a partially restored CG-15A glider, along with numerous artifacts from the Division’s combat in Sicily, Normandy, the Netherlands, the Ardennes and southern Germany.  The uniforms of the Division’s World War II commanders, Generals Matthew B. Ridgway and James M. Gavin.

New permanent exhibits about the 82^nd Airborne Division’s liberation of the Wobbelein Concentration Camp in support of the Anne Frank Exhibits.  The exhibit includes several new photos of the camp that have not been exhibited before and shows the division memorial service honoring those who died at the camp

The museum is located on Fort Bragg at 5108 Ardennes Street and is open to the public.  Normal hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

The museum does not charge a fee for admission but accepts donations.
