Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Comes to Raleigh in 2014

With just over a year to prepare, this should be a successful event for local businesses and runners alike.

North Carolina as a whole is a large running community and now residents will have the chance to raise funds for charities by taking part in the renowned Rock 'n' Roll Marathon race series.

Mayor Nancy McFarlane announced on Tuesday that the event will take place in April 2014, according to a WRAL news report. The event will culminate during the two-day Health and Fitness Expo at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Since the organization's inception in 1998, the group has raised over $287 million  for their respective causes in cities across the U.S.
