Special Forces Soldiers to Receive Valor Awards

Today three Soldiers will be awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor device, three Soldiers will receive the Purple Heart, and 13 Soldiers will receive the Army Commendation Medal with Valor device.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – The deputy commander of 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) will host a ceremony recognizing the valorous actions of 16 Soldiers while in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The ceremony will take place on March 21 at 3 p.m., in the John F. Kennedy Auditorium adjacent to the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School building.

In all, three Soldiers will receive the Bronze Star Medal with Valor device, three Soldiers will receive the Purple Heart, and 13 Soldiers will receive the Army Commendation Medal with Valor device.

The Valor device denotes those individuals who were awarded a decoration in recognition of a valorous act performed during direct combat with an enemy force. It may also denote an accomplishment of a heroic nature in direct support of operations against an enemy force.

Col. Heinz P. Dinter, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) deputy commander, will host the ceremony. Brig. Gen. Christopher Haas, U.S. Army Special Forces Command (Airborne), commanding general, will present the awards.
