U.S. Army Soldier Assigned to South Korea Could Face Charges in Alleged Car Chase Shooting

Two U.S. soldiers are under investigation.

On Tuesday U.S. Army soldier assigned to 8th Army in South Korea has been transferred on her own accord to Korean custody for pre-trial confinement as a result of an investigation and crimes surrounding a BB gun shooting.

Investigators believe there to have been a high speed chase in Yongsan, the U.S. Army's Garrison when police were called with reports of gunfire at a busy Itaewon intersection. A U.S. Army soldier was shot by South Korean police during the chase that led across the city according to a Stars and Stripes report.

South Korean prosecutors felt the soldier posed a flight risk and might destroy evidence, even though he had been in USFK custody since March 23.
