Fairy House Geocaching Festival Underway in Mecklenburg

MECKLENBURG, NC — The hunt is on for fairy houses in Mecklenburg County. The 2021 Fairy House festival, sponsored by Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation, features fairy-themed crafts, a virtual fairy costume contest and a geocaching hunt for treasure hidden in special fairy houses hidden in nature preserves throughout the county.

Participants interested in trying their luck finding houses and their treasure hidden at McDowell, Latta, Reedy Creek and Stevens Creek nature preserves should first download the geocaching app, which may be found here.

"If you find one with prizes in it… remember to leave a prize if you take a prize," organizers said.

The Fairy House Festival runs through Sunday, Feb. 28.
