Man Arrested For Attempted Rape At 2 Dollar Stores

KANNAPOLIS, NC — An 18-year-old man is in jail and charged with attempted to rape two women at local dollar stores.

Police say Omar Boyd went first to a Dollar General on Cannon Boulevard where a female employee says he attempted to assault her. She was able to escape his grasp and inform police of the assault.

An hour later, Kannapolis Police received another 911 call, this time to the nearby Family Dollar. A female employee there was in the bathroom when she says Boyd attempted to rape her.

She was also able to escape, and other employees held Boyd until police arrived on scene and took him into custody.

Boyd is charged with first-degree kidnapping and two counts of attempted forcible rape.
