Thanksgiving 2020: What's Open, Closed In Huntersville

Here's a rundown of offices and services that will be closed for Thanksgiving.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Thursday, Nov. 26 is Thanksgiving Day and a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break in its observance.

The Town of Huntersville, along with Mecklenburg County government offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27.

Here are the openings/closings to be aware of on Thursday, Nov. 26:

U.S. Post Office: Closed

State Offices: Closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27

Town of Huntersville Offices: Closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27

Huntersville Trash Collection: Waste Connections is off Thursday and operating on a one-day delay to complete the week, with Thursday's routes collected on Friday and Friday's routes collected on Saturday.

County Offices: Closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27

This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency offices.

Department of Social Services: hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).

Mecklenburg County Health Department: Closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27

County Park and Recreation: Parks, nature preserves and greenways will remain open.

All Recreation Centers, Senior Centers, Nature Centers and indoor Rental Facilities remain closed due to COVID-19. Remote learning sites, for those registered, will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27.
