  1. Congratulations to Julie Blocker, who recently was honored at the 2023 Career and Technical Education Summer Conference in Winston-Salem as the Southwest Region Director of the Year. According to Iredell Free News, Blocker, who is part of Mooresville's Graded School District, "was presented with a certificate of appreciation for serving as a mentor for the past three years to three aspiring CTE directors as they completed their CTE administrative Internships."   2. Soon, downtown Mooresville will be home to a touching memorial tribute from a son to a father. According to Lake Norman Publications, "[If plans go accordingly, Mooresville native Ron Mack, with family members by his side, will hold grand opening ceremonies marking new life for a downtown landmark dedicated to his father’s memory [sometime in September]." The building, which takes up the better part of the east side central portion of the 100 block of N. Main Street was built nearly 100 years ago and is currently in the final stages of $2 million-plus restoration project. Once complete, it will be a beckon of remembrance for Mack's family, which has been a mainstay of the community for over a century. (Lake Norman Publications)
