  1. Psilocybin mushrooms were found at Lake Norman High School. Reportedly, two juveniles are currently facing felony drug charges; one with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule I controlled substance and felony possession of Schedule I controlled substance and the other with felony buying or receiving Schedule I controlled substance. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "[The incident] happened on Aug. 25. when school resource officers were made aware of a possible narcotics violation. The sheriff’s office said it was discovered via school security footage that two students exchanged a Ziploc bag and cash between themselves in the hallway." (Subscription: Mooresville Tribune)
  2. A high-speed crash left one teen dead and landed two others in the hospital early Saturday. Reportedly, Stella Grace Bright, age 16, was driving a 2014 Porsche 911, down Brawley School Road in Lake Norman. According to WSOC Charlotte, "After veering off-road, she hit a tree and collided with a rock landscaping wall. Two other teens, 16-year-old John Witherspoon and 16-year-old Colin Goracke, were also in the car. Stella died from her injuries at the scene. North Carolina State Highway Patrol NCSHP says excessive speeding is indicated to be the cause of the collision." (WSOC Charlotte)
  3. Mooresville Graded School District is doing great. According to Statesville Record & Landmark, "Superintendent Dr. Jason Gardner said, 'We are proud of the continued academic growth displayed by MGSD students and staff as we navigate the impact of COVID-related learning loss, as well as a statewide teacher shortage. We are presently embarking on implementation of a new strategic plan that we believe will further our tradition of excellence.'” (Subscription: Statesville Record & Landmark)
