Iredell-Statesville Schools Drop Mask Mandate

The mask mandate has now been lifted but parents can choose to send their students to school wearing a mask.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — The Iredell-Statesville Board of Education has lifted its mask mandate, and masks are no longer mandatory for students or staff beginning today.

Masks though, will be optional, and the school will provide N95 masks for those who want them. N95 masks are medical grade masks.

The district re-instituted the mandate when the omicron strain surged in North Carolina and hospitalizations went up.

In addition, the district will stop the exclusion of asymptomatic students/staff, whether the close contact is in school, the household, or in the community, according to a press release.

Testing will be available but if the student tests negative, they will stay in school "to the greatest extent possible."
