Middle School Teacher Charged With Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor

MOORESVILLE, NC —An Iredell County middle school teacher has been suspended with pay pending an investigation after police arrested and accused him of soliciting nude photos of a 15-year-old girl through a social media app.

Kyle Christopher McKay, 37, of Mooresville was arrested July 23 and charged with one count of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, Mooresville Police Department said.

"This arrest followed an investigation of a 15-year-old female reporting that McKay solicited nude photos of her through Snapchat," MPD said in a statement.

McKay has been employed as a teacher at Troutman Middle School since August 2015, Iredell-Statesville Schools said in a statement announcing his suspension.

"No student within the Iredell-Statesville Schools was involved with this charge," the school district said.

Following his arrest, McKay was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and issued a $100,000 secured bond, MPD said.
