- One of our own! Mooresville resident Taylor Loyd was named Miss North Carolina over the weekend. She competed as Miss Statesville and won the crown, as well as a $20,000 scholarship. Now she is moving forward and is set to represent North Carolina in the Miss America competition. Congratulations, Taylor! (WBTV)
- Mooresville has a new mayor and he's a real dog! The new Dog Mayor of Mooresville has been officially elected and it is Elmer, the English bulldog. Filling the dog booties of his predecessor, Buttercup the Corgi, who was the first Dog Mayor of Mooresville, Elmer will be taking his job very seriously and making sure that everyone wears a smile. According to Yahoo Life, "The Town of Mooresville Youth Group organizes the mayoral run. This year, those who wanted their dogs to run, had to post the dog's campaign on social media and the dog that received the most likes [won]." Congratulations Elmer! (Yahoo Life)
