MOORESVILLE, NC — If you receive an email from the Town of Mooresville and something just doesn't feel right, it could be part of a scam.
Mooresville posted a message on social media and the town board alerting residents there could be a phishing scam targeting people, using emails that look like they're from the town itself.
"The Town of Mooresville has been made aware that phishing emails are being sent from accounts that appear to be from our organization. Please do not respond to any unsolicited emails that appear to be from the Town, reply with any personal information, or click on any included links," Mooresville warned in a statement.
Melissa Klassen posted on social media saying she was targeted via her work email account where she got an email from "Town of Mooresville Billing & Collections Supervisor."
