NC Snow Round 2: 'Moderate' Impact Expected In Lake Norman Area

If you wanted more winter precipitation, it's in the forecast this Friday into Saturday.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Winter weather is heading back for another round, according to the National Weather Service, this time Friday into Saturday.

A cold front sweeps through Thursday, creating the conditions that welcome back the chance for snow, sleet and rain this weekend.

As of noon Wednesday, there is a winter storm watch affecting counties just southeast of Charlotte, including Monroe County, but not yet Mecklenburg County or Iredell County.

WCNC Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich estimates the Charlotte area could see an additional two to four inches of snow, sleet and ice Friday into Saturday, with the Lake Norman area receiving less than two inches this time around.

That means slick conditions on area roads again, Friday into Saturday morning.

The lows on Friday and Saturday are expected to plummet to 21 degrees in the Charlotte area, and 19-20 degrees in the Lake Norman area.
