New Charges For Iredell Teacher Accused Of Exploitation Of Minor
Iredell County teacher Kyle Christopher McKay was charged with additional counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, MPD said Thursday.

MOORESVILLE, NC —An Iredell County middle school teacher recently arrested and accused of soliciting nude photos from a 15-year-old girl through a social media app now faces new charges, Mooresville Police Department said Thursday.
Kyle Christopher McKay, 37, of Mooresville was arrested July 23 and charged with one count of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor after the 15-year-old girl reported that he asked for nude photos of her through Snapchat, MPD said. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and issued a $100,000 secured bond.

On July 29 and while he was still in custody, he was charged with two additional counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was issued an additional $40,000 secured bond on the charges, MPD said.
McKay has been employed as a teacher at Troutman Middle School since August 2015, Iredell-Statesville Schools said in a statement at the time of his arrest. He was suspended with pay pending an investigation.

"No student within the Iredell-Statesville Schools was involved with this charge," the school district said.
