Police Identify Cornelius Man Slain In Mooresville Park
MPD is asking to speak to anyone who was in the Magla Park area Wednesday evening after a 23-year-old Cornelius man was found fatally shot.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Authorities released the identity of a Cornelius man shot to death in a Mooresville park Wednesday as the investigation into the homicide continues, Mooresville Police Department said Friday.
MPD responded to Magla Park on Spencer Street late Wednesday evening, where they found Jacob Dean Koury, 23, of Cornelius. Koury had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police report.
Thursday, MPD released security camera footage and asked for the community's help identifying two persons of interest. The footage showed two males standing outside a door along with a dog.

“We appreciate the community’s support and are diligently investigating all leads based
on information provided,” MPD Assistant Chief Frank Falzone said in a statement. “We have made progress with the investigation, but seek more information.”

Investigators are asking to speak with anyone who was in Magla Park or the Spencer Street
area between 9 p.m. - 11:15 p.m. on the evening of Aug 11, MPD said.
Police said anyone with information about the incident, the two individuals or the dog in the video is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 658-9056 or the MPD non-emergency line at (704) 664-3311.
