Speed, Alcohol Suspected Factors In Fatal Mooresville Crash: MPD

A 25-year-old Mooresville man died in the single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Shearers and Poplar Springs Roads, MPD said.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Mooresville man over the weekend, according to Mooresville Police Department.

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5 on Shearers Road at Poplar Springs Road, MPD said.

According to a police account, Christopher Andrew Arnold, 25, of Mooresville was traveling north on Shearers Road when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving, and struck a tree.

Arnold, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, MPD said.
