Here are the top stories in Mooresville today:

1. Sunday is Race Day and it is expected that the 233,000-seat grandstand at the Indy 500 will be near capacity with the largest in-person crowd since 2016, which was the race's 100th anniversary. If you can't make it to the race, it will also be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock starting at 11 a.m. ET (green flag is 12:45 p.m. ET). According to NBC Sports, "A prerace show will be shown exclusively on Peacock starting at 9 a.m. ET." (NBC Sports)
2. It's that time of year! Time for the Town of Mooresville splash pads to open for the 2023 season. Starting today, the splash pads will open daily (weather permitting) from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. through Labor Day. Cool off with the little ones and enjoy!" (Mooresville Parks & Recreation via Facebook)
3. Mark your calendars!
