Tornado Watch In Effect Overnight For Iredell, Charlotte Metro

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Western North Carolina, along with much of the greater Charlotte metro including Iredell County will remain under a tornado watch overnight until early Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service said Tuesday evening.

Tornado Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes.

The tornado watch will be in effect in 29 counties in North Carolina until 2 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18.

"Review and discuss your emergency plans and check supplies and your safe room," NWS said. "Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or you suspect a tornado is approaching."
